After years of healthy dessert experimentation, I perfected this Decadent Dark Chocolate & Avocado Mousse. It satisfies deep chocolate cravings while delivering heart-healthy fats, fiber, and antioxidants—ideal for mindful indulgence.

Experience & Expertise:
I tested ratios from 1:1 to 2:1 cocoa-to-avocado, settling on 1½:1 for the silkyest texture and richest flavor, balanced by maple syrup’s subtle sweetness.

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 2 large ripe avocados, halved & pitted

  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ cup pure maple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • ¼ cup almond milk or coconut milk

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • Optional toppings: fresh berries, mint leaves, cacao nibs

Method

  1. Blend base (2 min): Scoop avocado flesh into food processor. Add cocoa, maple syrup, milk, vanilla, and salt. Blend until completely smooth, scraping down sides as needed.

  2. Adjust sweetness (30 sec): Taste and add more syrup if desired. Blend again.

  3. Chill (1–2 hr): Transfer mousse into serving bowls or glasses. Refrigerate at least 1 hour to firm and deepen flavors.

  4. Serve: Top with berries, mint, or cacao nibs for added texture and freshness.

Trustworthiness:
Each ½-cup serving: ~220 calories, 4 g fiber, rich in monounsaturated fats and flavonoids. Paleo, vegan, gluten-free.

Expert Tip: Allow mousse to rest chilled for full flavor development—texture becomes denser and more luxurious after 2 hours.
